Jurgen Klopp has been able to "transform" Liverpool this season, says former goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
The Reds came back from 1-0 down to beat 10-man Crystal Palace on Saturday and ended the weekend one point clear at the top of the table.
There was concern after losing experienced midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, but summer signings Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have helped push the side back up the league.
"What Jurgen Klopp has done since he went into the club has been magnificent," Friedel told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast.
"What's been great is he now has been given to the opportunity to transform the club. He did need to make some changes from the squad last year. Now they're sitting clear at the top of the league after 16 games.
"Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham - and you can even throw in Manchester United into it although I know they have a lot of problems - make it very congested at the top of the table.
"It's going to be one heck of a finish as we get through this festive period in the Premier League this year."
